Advising

Advising at the University of Arkansas is primarily handled within the Fulbright School of Arts and Sciences by the dedicated advisors in the advising office. You will normally be assigned a primary advisor that you will work with. However, sometimes your degree plans, transfers, and other issues don't perfectly line up with the course catalog. In those cases, you can and should reach out to the Director of Undergraduate Studies via email (engladv@uark.edu). Feel free to also reach out if you have any questions about the major or minor! 

Director of Undergraduate Studies

Dr. Adam R. Pope is the current UGS director. Dr. Pope has been a faculty member at the University of Arkansas since 2013, and currently serves as an associate professor in the department. His teaching covers editing, document design, content strategy, and content writing at the undergraduate level. His current research project focuses on online content creators and is a follow-up to his book on crowdfunding. 

Dr. Pope was a first-generation 4-year college student, with his parents both only earning an associate's degree. He ended up taking Composition I on three separate occasions as he worked out the university system during his first two years as a student. (That was awkward to explain to graduate programs in writing). 

He is always happy to help with course selection, overrides, internships, career advising, discussions of graduate school, and to talk mountain biking.
